The original address is 6207 Guelph Line.
Built in 1889, the Lowville School replaced the earlier frame Barker’s Schoolhouse, which was located at the northeast corner of Guelph Line and Britannia Road. The school was built on one acre of land donated by Joseph Featherstone from his farm. A plaque on a large rock near the school commemorates:
Joseph Featherstone / 1803 – 1883 / who was born in County Durham, England, emigrated to Canada as a young man, established the farm where this park is located and provided this acre of land for the first school in the community.
